Hellblade has released for Xbox One today, and Ninja Theory plan to donate money to charity if it hits sale goals.
Hellblade is an action game all about a warrior called Senua who suffers from psychosis. Its depiction of mental illness is core to the experience, and the developer consulted heavily with experts to ensure they did the difficult subject justice.
The game was originally exclusive to PS4 and PC, but it launched on PC today and Ninja Theory say they will donate money to Mental Health America if it sells a certain amount of copies by April 18.
If Hellblade sells 50,000 copies by April 18 on Xbox One, the studio will donate $25,000 to the charity. If it hits 100,000 sales, Ninja Theory will donate $50,000.
The studio announced the news in a tweet:
#Hellblade launches for #XboxOne tomorrow!
If we hit 50,000 week 1 sales by April 18th, we can donate $25K to Mental Health America @MentalHealthAm !
If we hit 100,000 we can donate $50K! Spread the word! We can do it!! pic.twitter.com/OVVi40swWd

In October last year, Ninja Theory donated money to a similar UK charity for Mental Health Awareness Day, which is why a US charity was chosen this time.
An update is also in the works for the PS4 Pro version of the game to support HDR.
