Monster Hunter movie centers on two heroes coming together to “defeat a shared danger”

Capcom has provided details on the plot for its Monster Hunter film adaptation.

Not much is known at present regarding the Monster Hunter film adaption, but Capcom shared a few details on the plot today.

Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and tentatively titled Monster Hunter, the film centers around two “heroes who come from different worlds to defeat a shared danger.”

This danger is none other than the powerful, deadly monsters that inhabit the land. Like the game, right? In the movie, the protagonists will discover and encounter “familiar faces and beloved characters” from the games like the Admiral.

Monster Hunter is being adapted for the big screen by Constantin Film, and it will go into production this month. As reported in May, shooting will take place in South Africa and Namibia. It was announced in 2016 Anderson would write the script, and his producing partner Jeremy Bolt, will produce the Monster Hunter film. Special effects will be supplied by Toronto’s Technicolor-owned Mr. X.

Constantin Film will release the movie in German Speaking Territories, Tencent Pictures in China and Toho Film in Japan. Sony’s Screen Gems will release the film in the US. Sony Pictures International will handle distribution in the rest of the world.
