Pokemon Go players will earn extra goodies if enough players participate in an upcoming Earth Day event.
Ninatic Labs will host a Pokemon Go Earth Day event in April to support various environmental non-profits.
The company has teamed up once again with Playmob, a gaming-for-good engagement platform which works with various non-profits and game development studios. Studios include Rovio, Jagex, Glu Mobile, Miniclip, and Electronic Arts.
Those who participate in the event will unlock rewards for all Pokemon Go players. The more participants, the better the rewards. This year, rewards include more Ground-type appearances and the chance to catch Shiny Diglett.
Ingress players can also get in on the Earth Day event and earn rewards.
If enough Trainers attend, the rewards outlined below will be handed out to all players worldwide based on the number of attendees.

“Many of our partners are not only hosting cleanup events but are engaging in long term impact projects that seek to make significant positive impact in local communities around the world,” said Niantic Labs. “They are looking to engage with communities to make a difference over the span of one day, and over the long term.
“By participating in these Earth Day cleanups and learning more about local NGOs [non-governmental organizations], players can have a larger impact on their communities and the health of the planet. Long term impact projects include educational initiatives for school programs and community organizations, as well as replacing pollution with new plants.”

Hopefully, enough will attend these events to not only clean things up, but unlock rewards for everyone. The 2018 Pokemon Go Earth Day event had close to 68 different clean up events which collected over 6.5 tons of garbage.
