Following this week’s launch of Devil May Cry 5, Capcom USA CEO Kiichiro Urata proclaims that “Capcom is back!”
Devil May Cry 5 released a few days ago to positive reviews – even our own Kirk McKeand was impressed, saying “Capcom is a master of the genre it spawned,” in his review. The studio appears to share the sentiment, as evidence by a recent tweet from DMC 5 producer, Matt Walker.
The studio has been on a roll for a while now, with 2017’s Resident Evil 7 hitting its target of 4 million units shipped, and Resident Evil 2 shipping 3 million copies in its first week.
Neither title has been as successful for the developer as Monster Hunter: World which earned the achievement of being Capcom’s best-selling game ever.

Urata-san can be seen holding what looks like a delicious Dante cake pop, but disappointingly, he didn’t chomp its head off.
According to Twisted Voxel, DMC 5 had the second-most successful Steam launch for Capcom, after Monster Hunter: World, with a peak of 88.7k players since its release.
