Reveal season for The Witchwood – the next Hearthstone set – is in full swing, and as always it’s an exciting time. This spookily-themed collection of 135 cards is introducing several new build-around concepts, such as decks with only odd cost cards and decks with only even cost cards, not to mention new mechanics like Echo and Rush. And a whole lot of random Shaman spells.
Since this is the first set of the year, the introduction of The Witchwood also means a new Standard rotation, so we’ll be saying goodbye to Whispers of the Old Gods, One Night in Karazhan and Mean Streets of Gadgetzan. All those cards will still be playable in Wild, of course, but in Standard it means big changes - there'll be no more Jade and no more Old Gods, for instance. It’s going to be a whole new world, and the drastically reduced card pool means that the new cards will have a chance to really shine.
