In the wake of E3 2018, we’re piecing together everything we know about Anthem’s Javelins so far.
After EA’s deep dive on Anthem at E3, we already know some tidbits about the game’s Freelancers and Javelins, but Arekkz is on hand to round up all of the details we know so far and pop them in a handy video for your perusal.
We already know that players can create multiple Freelancers per account, and that all four Javelins can be unlocked by one Freelancer.
Players will start off in the Ranger, a good all-rounder, before being able to unlock the three other Javelins — Colossus, Storm, and Interceptor — through specific missions.
Executive producer, Mark Darrah, has confirmed that this will be possible before players are a quarter of the way through the game, and that they can choose which order to unlock them in.
The Colossos does the job of a tank, the Storm is essentially the mage class — seemingly with the added bonus of being able to fly about without the worry of overheating like the other suits — while details on the Interceptor have been kept under wraps so far, but it’s speculated that it’ll fulfil the long-range, sniper class.
As previously confirmed, the gear you’ll pick up is based on your Freelancer level, so you can switch Javelins and begin earning level appropriate gear straight off the bat.
You can watch Arekkz’s video for more info on the Javelins, and their customisation and personalisation options.
After our hands-on at E3, we did an about face on the game, with Alex Donaldson saying he “fell in love immediately.”
On the subject of love, fans were disappointed when it was revealed that there would be no bumping uglies in Anthem, but BioWare’s Casey Hudson has kept our hopes alive by suggesting that the game might have romance options after all.
And when the story is over and done with, you’ll still have plenty of reasons to go back and keep playing, according to BioWare game director Jonathan Warner.
Anthem launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 22, 2019.
