You can unlock Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2 with a map glitch, but only after you’ve completed the campaign. Minor spoilers ahead.
Red Dead Redemption 2 players can take a jaunt to Mexico once they’ve finished the main storyline, glitching through the map to reach the other side of the San Luis river.
There’s not a lot to see over there, with just a single building to poke around in, and you’ll need to seriously stock up on stamina and health tonics, and as much food as you can stuff into your satchel if you want to visit it.
YouTuber ZacCoxTV talks us through the process in the video below, but the short version is that you’ll need to make your way to the westernmost point in New Austin and swim across the river, before pulling off a tricky manoeuvre to climb up a wall with your horse.
Your horse won’t be available to you once you’re across the border, so ZacCoxTV suggests using a cheat code to spawn one in, or you’ll be doing a lot of running.
The only building in Mexico is El Presidio, and while there’s not a lot going in there – or in this part of the map in general – players are speculating that the location is going to be a part of Red Dead Online, which may begin with a jailbreak.
The Red Dead Online beta is set to begin sometime this month, and is based on the original Red Dead Redemption multiplayer.
You can keep up with everything we know about the online portion of the game so far right here.
